RESULTS OF JULY 20 MEETING There was a special meeting last night (Tuesday, July 20) about the new amendment (2010-14) the CBCC has made regarding the county water service area and the grandfathering in of existing wells within that area. It is difficult to stand in front of an assembly and speak your mind, but many of you did just that. We thank those of you who got up and spoke and we feel that significant progress was made as a direct result of your participation. Citizens Against Forced Utilities regards the outcome of the meeting as a step in the right direction, and the conduct of the CBCC towards our group was commendable. While we have not accomplished all we set out to do, the result of our petition drive has been significant! The area affected by the new county water system is now clearly defined, and is limited to a specific region. More importantly, the citizens in that area will be grandfathered-in so long as certain conditions are met. Another important point that was established last night was that the affected area cannot be expanded without going through the entire process of public notification and hearings, so all we have to do now is pay attention! Also, any new service areas will automatically be grandfathered-in, thus accomplishing the goal of protecting our rights to use our wells. We'll keep you apprised of developments, and you can sign up for our mailing list for updates via email. Thanks again for your participation last night! _________________________________________________________________________________________________ CONTACT C.A.F.U General information: CitizensAgainstForcedUtilities@yahoo.com Website related issues: Webmaster _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paid political advertisement paid for by: Citizens Against Forced Utilities, 628 SE Ormond Witt Rd, Lake City, FL 32025 Since 5/7/2010 |
